Feedback after Leading Learning Challenge & Differentiation training day:

“I had my first directed time session with the staff yesterday. I felt it went well and provoked a lot of discussion. I have already talked to two members of staff about becoming involved in the inquiry and two more are interested. As soon as I got into work today one Year 5 teacher stopped me to say she was ‘buzzing’ after the training and really wanted to get on and try the ideas”.

Di Ellison, Ovingham Middle School

“I just wanted to drop you an email to let you know about the impact that the North Tyneside Differentiaton and Challenge conference, workshop and toolkit have had on my teaching and, through sharing these ideas, on that of my colleagues too… Even though I have been teaching for almost 16 years, the ideas have changed the way in which I approach planning. I plan more open-ended learning opportunities supported by ‘clues’ which pupils can access should they need them. They are surprisingly persistent now and only access clues once they have tried to figure things out themselves. Colleagues trying out some of the ideas have also found similar benefits. They are acknowledging that the key to differentiation is not ‘dumbing it down’ for less able pupil but is ‘stepping it up for all’.”
