About Leading Learning

Julie McGrane, founder of Leading Learning began her career as a Geography teacher before heading up a successful department. Holding a creative post in school allowed her to lead a teacher research programme, develop coaching across the school as well as work with Newcastle University developing Teaching Thinking. Julie has also sat on the National Teacher Research Panel (http://www.standards.dfes.gov.uk/ntrp/ ) for three years from its conception. Julie then went on to work for the National College for School Leadership for four years as a Network Facilitator on their Network Learning Communities Programme.

Julie now runs Leading Learning (Education). She is a visiting fellow at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, Ofsted Inspector and Author. Her most recent publication: Parental Involvement (a toolkit designed to help school leaders begin conversations with parents that make a difference to achievement is published in June 2008. It is packed full of tools, accounts from practice and theory (with contributions from Professor Charles Desforges, Professor David Leat and Professor Barry Carpenter) designed to help you have conversations with parents that make a difference to pupil achievement.
